Dealing with dark circles

Dark circles under the eyes

Lately I’ve been caring a lot more about the quality and appearance of my skin. I’ve tried to keep my face shaved nicely, and have been washing my face every evening before I go to bed. The more time I spend taking care of my skin (and especially since I’ve been working on finding good makeup for me) the more I’m noticing little things that didn’t stand out so much before. The one I’m wanting to tackle right now is dark circles under my eyes.

I think the problem has gotten worse with age, because over the last couple years I’ve noticed that my eyelids and under-eye areas are darker than the rest of my face. It makes me look like I’m really tired - which is not a look that any girl or guy wants to have continually on their face.

After doing a little research this weekend I’ve decided to try out a product from Olay called Olay Regenerist Eye Lifting Serum. So this afternoon I made a trip to the local drugstore (wife in tow) to pick some up. I’m going to start using it tonight, and I’ll report on any progress I have.

Update 3/16

I’ve been using the Olay Regenerist product for nearly two weeks now, and and I actually have noticed that it’s having an affect - just not the kind of affect I’m looking for. Let me explain.

If you look around you’ll notice that many guys have a kind of “hood” over their eyes, with extra skin that hangs down from the eyelid onto the eye (and even presses against the eyelashes). I’m no exception here. The Olay product seems to work by effectively making the eyes more “puffy”, this smooths out wrinkles and lifts the skin away from blood vessels which is what gives the eyes the “dark circle look”. However, even though the Olay product does seem to be helping my dark circles, the fact that my skin is more puffy seems to accentuate the extra skin above my eye, and make my eyes appear puffy and tired. I’m disappointed.

I’m now trying the “Olay Total Effects Eye Transforming Cream” to see how this works on me. This one supposedly helps the eyes to not look puffy - and brightens around the eye as well. I’ll report back on how it’s working after a couple weeks use.
